Statement of the WAU Executive Board on the Conflict in Israel and Palestine
Wayne Academic Union supports the rights of students, staff, and faculty to express their opinions, even on controversial issues, without fear of retribution or intimidation. We condemn all forms of racism and oppression including antisemitism, hatred of people of Jewish or Arab descent, Islamophobia, and the use of hate speech. Wayne Academic Union supports an immediate ceasefire and the provision of water, fuel, food, and other aid to Gaza. A lasting peace must be negotiated based on international law and respect for human rights.
The WAU Executive Board also shares the following: Individuals who support calls for a ceasefire in Israel and Palestine are invited to add their names to this resolution co-sponsored by UAW, UE (United Electrical, Radio & Machine Workers of America), UFCW 3000, and a growing list of unions.
