Faculty! Join the Contract Enforcement Team Bench

The Contract Enforcement Team (CET) is a dedicated group of faculty and academic staff that addresses member grievances, resolves workplace issues, and ensures the contract is being enforced across campus.

Faculty: Pramod Khosla (Grievance Coordinator), Christine Knapp (Contract Implementation Officer), Juliann Binienda and Aaron Martin

Academic Staff: Kristen Chinery (Grievance Coordinator), Anglesia Brown and Heather Sandlin (Contract Implementation Officers)

After two years, Aaron Martin will be cycling off the team. During his time on CET, Aaron has been a tremendous support to the team and to many faculty members. Thank you, Aaron!

We are looking for another faculty person to join the team and help handle the volume of issues. Contract enforcement work is time-intensive but rewarding. This group meets once a week on Tuesday mornings to go over various individual issues happening across campus. They meet with faculty and academic staff members to hear about their issues, help them understand their rights under the collective bargaining agreement, accompany them to meetings with administrators, and work with legal counsel when necessary. The faculty member should be able to maintain discretion, be trusted by their coworkers, be empathetic and ready to listen to various concerns and be fair and balanced. Previous union, mediation, or legal experience is a bonus.

The expectations are to:

attend Tuesday morning meetings once or twice a month (on Zoom for one hour)

help with intake of new cases and with follow-up meetings with faculty who encounter issues

attend at least one training on grievance handling at some point during the year

occasionally accompany the Grievance Coordinator or Contract Implementation Officers on meetings with members

read and become familiar with the collective bargaining agreement

If you want to join the team or want more information, please email office@waunion.org by Monday, June 3.
