Extended: Donation Drive to Support Blue Cross Blue Shield Workers on Strike

UAW workers at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan are out on strike.

Make a monetary donation here. The UAW has put out a call for donations of basic supplies to help sustain workers and their families. They are especially in need of toiletries. Please lend support to our union siblings!

Suggested donations:

Toothpaste
Bodywash/soap
Hand soap
Dish soap
Laundry detergent
Razors
Toilet paper
Diapers (all sizes)
Baby wipes
Garbage bags
Paper towels
Canned goods
Coffee
Breakfast cereal
Soup
Pasta
Rice
Pasta Sauce

Drop off points:

  • Student Center, Donation Box D, South Side

  • Wayne Academic Union (AAUP-AFT) office, 5057 Woodward, Suite 3301

Please donate multiples of one thing when possible. For example, two cases of corn rather than two cans of corn, two tubes of toothpaste, etc. It makes the inventory easier to track. If you are donating larger quantities, please bring them to the 5057 Woodward drop off point.

We plan to continue collecting items at least through October 4, or until the strike is over. If you're able to help transport items from our campus to Region 1 in Warren, please reply to this message to be put in touch with members leading this effort.
