WAU Signs Removed from Offices

On Wednesday and Thursday, dozens of orange union signs that read “WAU STRONG” and “INVEST IN EDUCATION, INVEST IN PEOPLE” were removed from locked offices, office doors, bulletin boards, and windows in the College of Education, Shapero Hall, School of Social Work, and F/AB. Several individuals were told they needed to remove all union signs but that other signs and postings could stay.

Many academic staff, faculty, and other union and non-union staff on campus spoke up, refused to take down signs, and brought this to the attention of union leadership.

These actions were apparently the result of a misunderstanding, and we have now received apologies from upper-level administrators. If a sign was taken off your door, or if someone entered your office and removed a sign, please let us know so it can be returned to you.

You have a right to organize for better working conditions, and you have a right to show your support for the union. Put signs up in your windows, on your doors, and in your break rooms to show that we are WAU strong!
